I am so grateful to have come across Millicent Tuhakaraina on LinkedIn. What an amazing lady. After spending much of her childhood exposed to violence, drugs and death, just trying to survive and to protect her siblings and cousins, she is now committed to creating positive change in the world. She is particularly focused on helping young people overcome trauma and triumph over adversity (TOA).

The saying goes, it takes a community to raise a child. Milli is more concerned about who is looking after the community to ensure that it raises healthy children. After telling her story and sharing it online, she found many young people reaching out to her, asking for help. This was the catalyst for her to quit her job in the middle of the 2020 COVID pandemic and start Pasifiika TOA. Her mission with this movement is in empowering young people to know, feel and see that we value them as our emerging leaders, and supporting young people to be who they already are!!

Milli’s passion will burst though your speakers as you listen to her. Her desire is that any young people or people in communities who are suffering will reach out and ask for help. She is at a very early stage in this journey and has a big vision, so any help you can offer Pasifika TOA will be gratefully accepted, even if just sharing this podcast. I am committed to helping her, and this is a conversation that every person needs to hear and a podcast you do not want to miss.
